Spooner House Check Presentation 001 1 resized 600At United Methodist Homes, we are always looking for opportunities to give back to the community and help others in need.  One organization that we have a longstanding relationship of giving to is Spooner House in Shelton, CT which provides food, shelter, and services for those in need.

United Methodist Homes’ Wesley Village campus recently gave Spooner House a check for $1,000, a portion of the monies raised by the Wesley Village 4th Annual 5k Road Race and Fun Walk. The rest of the race’s proceeds benefit the award winning programs at Wesley Village, including the “Journey of Dreams” program, which grants wishes to the seniors living on the Wesley Village campus.  Major sponsors for the race include M&T Bank, Omnicare, Griffin Hospital Lifeline, Murtha Cullina LLP, Merit Insurance, McKesson, Unitex, Textile Rental Services, Brennan Construction, Winter Brothers Waste Systems, CT and Crown Uniform.

The race event is continually growing in attendance with runners of all ages participating. The event brings together members of our community and is a fun and healthy activity many of our residents and staff look forward to every year. The Wesley Village campus provides housing and healthcare to seniors with needs ranging from independent living, assisted living, short-term rehabilitation and skilled nursing.  Staff and residents at Wesley Village look forward to creating and enhancing programs that keep the residents and the Shelton community happy, healthy and engaged.

About Elizabeth Bemis

In 1998, I drove past an assisted living community construction site, learned that it was part of United Methodist Homes and realized the next stop on my professional journey was to work for a mission driven organization. Soon after, I joined the team as Executive Director of our Middlewoods of Farmington community and later served as Regional Manager for the Middlewoods properties before accepting my current role as Vice President of Marketing, Promotions, and Assisted Living Operations. I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, reading, walking, and love working alongside our staff, residents, and families to build strong communities that reflect the mission, vision, and values of United Methodist Homes.

Our Blog is a 2016 Platinum Generations Award Winner! The Generations Award is an annual international competition for excellence in senior marketing recognizing professionals who have communicated to the 50+ Mature Markets.
