Shelton, CT (June 20, 2016) - Bishop Wicke Health and Rehabilitation Center, a skilled nursing and rehab facility on the Wesley Village Campus in Shelton, was recently featured in the “Being the Difference” Leading Age Member Showcase for the unique ways it is making a difference in the lives of older adults. Seven senior care providers from across the state were featured in the showcase and invited to highlight their impact to attendees at the Leading Age Connecticut Expo. The expo, held at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville this past May, included over 500 attendees.

Middlewoods of Newington Independent and Assisted Living Community was the proud recipient of another “Best of Newington” award for the third year in a row. Voted “Best Senior Care Provider” in the Newington Chamber of Commerce’s “Best of Newington” Awards, the community was acknowledged at the NCC’s 71st Annual Meeting and 3rd Annual “Best of Newington” Awards Dinner. The event was held on June 3rd at Indian Hill Country Club in Newington and featured several other Chamber awards.

Shelton, CT (June 6, 2016) – Wesley Village, a campus of senior living and care communities in Shelton, CT, is looking for volunteers to help in the following areas: musicians, poker, blackjack, or chess players, travel buffs, hobby enthusiasts, game leaders (ie. corn hole toss, dominoes, Bingo), history buffs, gardeners, bible study facilitator, exercise instructor, foreign language instructor, poetry/short story instructor, Café assistant, and Café hosts/hostesses.

Farmington, CT (June 7, 2016) - Middlewoods of Farmington resident, Pierre Kennedy, was recently recognized by the City of Middletown for his military service and contributions to the community. He was honored with a proclamation from Middletown Mayor Daniel T. Drew, who proclaimed Sunday, May 15, 2016 as Pierre Jean Jacques Kennedy Day. Kennedy was greatly involved with the Connecticut Chapter of AMERICAN EX-POWs since its inception and after many years of dedicated service, resigned from his role as Chapter Adjutant on May 14, 2016.

(Farmington, CT – May 17, 2016) Cal Kaiser, a resident of Middlewoods of Farmington Independent and Assisted Living Community, was recently recognized by the Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA) with the Distinguished Resident Accomplishment Award, an award which honors the distinguished service and accomplishments of senior living residents. Kaiser, along with twenty residents from other senior living communities across the state, was nominated to receive this prestigious award because of his extraordinary example of aging and his exceptional contributions to the community.
