We recently rolled out a Random Acts of Kindness Campaign in our UMH communities and have been receiving lots of great feedback on how these simple acts of kindness are making a big difference.
We were thrilled to be able to honor two of our outstanding UMH caregivers at the 2nd Annual Caring Hands Award Luncheon presented by Leading Age CT on Monday, April 8th at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington. The event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and recognize some of the many special people who work in senior care. Cheers to our team members Claudine Thermidor, a CNA at Bishop Wicke, and Tishana Myers, a CNA at our Middlewoods of Newington Community on receiving this award! See below to read more about Claudine and Tishana…

Our Middlewoods communities in Farmington and Newington recently celebrated some very special milestones! On Friday, March 22nd, Middlewoods of Farmington held a gala event to celebrate 20 years providing the highest level of meaningful living and care. Families from as far back as 20 years ago attended and enjoyed reconnecting with staff and other family members. Executive Chef Loretta Ward and her team created and oversaw numerous food stations including prime rib, pasta and sushi. The entire first floor was used for the party to accommodate two bands, lots of residents and family members cutting it up on the dance floor and the many guests who attended. One special (uninvited) guest, a black bear was a hit as he meandered through the back yard in the midst of the festivities.
We are proud to announce Rose Sadoian, 1 year resident of Middlewoods of Newington, was selected by the Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA) as a 2018 Resident Accomplishment Award winner. Rose was presented her award at the 3rd Annual Resident Accomplishment Awards Luncheon on April 5th at The Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville.
We are delighted to share some exciting news with you! Christian Negron, a member of the Middlewoods of Newington team, has been selected by the Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA) as a 2017 award winner. Christian Negron was honored at the 22nd Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner and presented the 2017 Humanitarian Award. This award is presented to one individual whose personal integrity, decency, and contributions to the elderly best exemplify the ideals of CALA and who serves as an inspiration to all.
Middlewoods of Newington Independent and Assisted Living Community was the proud recipient of another “Best of Newington” award for the fourth year in a row. Residents of the local community cast ballots and chose this award-winning community as the “Best Senior Care Provider” in Newington. At the Chamber of Commerce’s “Best of Newington” Annual Awards Dinner, held at the Indian Hill Country Club, Middlewoods was acknowledged and received this prestigious award.
